How to shut out online distraction and enjoy your ebook!

Every time I grab my mobile to read an ebook, I find that almost an hour or so is passed but I haven't even opened that ebook but was doing everything else in my mobile that's not at all necessary. Starting from watching Instagram posts and videos to whatsapp, memes and other slushpile stuff come out grabbing all my attention and time that I end up wasting my precious moments which I'm supposed to be reading.

While ebooks help a great deal to store and carry thousands of books we love, these distractions that I call online noise makes it difficult to focus on the book that we want to read online. have you ever experienced this? If so, read along to find some of the ways that I find to shut down this noise as much as possible and enjoy your ebook.

Download books before reading

Keeping mobile data 'on' all the time while you are reading might be one of the problems as messages, notifications, and other downloads keep coming in demanding your attention now and then. Download the book/file you wish to read, switch off mobile data and start reading on your device.

Do not disturb

If you are not expecting any important calls its fine to keep your phone on do not disturb mode before starting to read. I wouldnt want to take unnecessarily calls while I actually wanted to read.

Turn off notification/Block

If at all you keep your mobile data on, while reading, make sure you turn off notifications in various websites unless it's very important to alert. Most of the websites that you visit, even rarely, ask you to 'accept' to send updates - decline all of them if you don't find it important.

Set your time

Being active in social networking websites has become an inevitable part of our lives that too when you are using it particularly to boost your efforts whatever it may be. Set yourself two different timings - 'social networking time' where you connect, reply and do your all related stuff to your online presence and 'reading time' while you just settle to read your book on your device. Don't mix up both. Yes, shutting yourself out of online noise demands a lot of self-discipline.

Set limits to data

Even after trying so hard to stay away from social networking websites, sometimes they are overwhelming to make users addicted to it. Setting limits to your mobile data might help tackle this problem as your smartphone will alert every time you overuse.

Ads-free

If you could afford to have an ads-free reading app, just go for it. Make sure your screen is only showing your reading material and nothing else!

Read with partner

Having challenges with your friends/partners to finish reading books is a fun way to reach that reading goal without losing focus. Setting an earlier deadline to finish the book also helps.

Print book

Finally, whenever you get a chance to choose a print book over an ebook, just go for it, because its the best - nothing can beat the pleasure of reading a print book. The smell of well-worn books, the texture of the pages, and the whole reading experience is altogether different when you choose a print book that ebook cant offer however hard the software tries to match.

While ebooks help booklovers a great deal, it also comes with a bunch of distraction. Readers should be able to handle those distractions effectively to fully enjoy reading an ebook.
